Blog Entry #6
It is important for a society to have and maintain laws because it keeps the system running smoother and it helps protect the people in the society. Rules and laws are needed to insure the happiness of all the citizens in a society. This will make people want to live in that society which would be good for the society. In Lord of the Flies Ralph puts many rules into place to insure that the group of boys who survived the crash were able to live without much issue until they were rescued. In the book the rules begin to fall out of place and this causes the society to break down and begin to argue.
It is essential for everyone to obey the rules because it allows people to stay safe in a society. The minute people start to disobey the rules, the entire society will begin to fail. This is bad for a society because the rules are what keep the people safe. Without rules their would be no hope for a society to thrive. In Lord of the Flies the boys follow the rules and everything is running smoothly, but when just a couple of people stop doing their duties everyone stops and this causes the system to fail.
It is important to have authority figures to enforce the law because they are what keep people in line and without that people wouldn't fear the consequences of breaking the law. This would cause a lot of distress and problems if there weren't any figures to enforce the law. People break the law because they want to do what they want to do. People might also break the law if they are desperate and need certain things instantly, this will push them to break the law. If there weren't any authority figures, there wouldn't be anybody to prevent everyone from breaking the law.
